The baby blanket is *finally* complete and I cannot wait to share it with you!</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
A few weeks back I found a crochet baby blanket on <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;"><strong>Pinterest</strong></span></a> that led me to a chart. No written pattern, just a punch of symbols.</div>
<div align="center">

</div>
<div align="center">
Well, I like a good puzzle, and even though I knew what all the symbols meant, I like to have my patterns written out. </div>
<div align="center">
12 pages of notes later, here we are!</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
I will be starting with the details of the blanket, the flower and the leaf.<br />

There will be a written pattern, as well as some pictures along the way for a visual. </div>

For the blanket, I used baby weight yarn with a F/5 - 3.75mm hook. </div>

I will be using those, as well as worsted weight yarn with a H/8 - 5mm hook for examples/pictures in this post.</div>

You've read that correctly, I am doing it again!</div>

I don't know if it was all the coffee, the long day that turned into a long night of finishing a crochet piece, or Pinterest; but either way, I found another chart that I felt compelled to translate and create.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's a baby blanket!! And it's adorable!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The breakdown, write up, and creating process has already begun.....</div>

This one is testing my knowledge, that's for sure. *SO* glad to have all the reference books I collected over the years of estate sales and thrift shopping. Everyone does symbols differently and this one has a few tricky ones. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
First, I stared at the pictures for counting rows and starting chains. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then, I stared at it trying to figure out how the double row of ruffles was going to work itself out.</div>

Finally, it was the flowers....</div>

While I am off spending eternity weaving in ends, you can enjoy what the squares will eventually look like.... isn't it exciting seeing the pieces starting to come together?!</div>

I can't wait to get this blanket finished! Not only because it is giant and extremely time consuming, but because this little boy just loves his Mario!</div>

<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If thousands of tiny squares isn't your thing, Sarah from <a href="http://repeatcrafterme.com/" target="_blank">Repeat Crafter Me</a> has this *GREAT* tutorial on using a continuous bobble stitch instead of squares to create the same pixel effect. </div>

"It's a-me, Mario!"</div>

My little muse came up with another great idea that had my gears turning in no time!!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He always has a way of coming up with ideas that keep me busy creating for days.....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
His latest plan involves Mario and me making it in to a blanket. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My first thought was, "graph patterns to the rescue!!" So, I went on a mission via Pinterest and found some that I could work with.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, I searched for a mini square pattern to determine each square's size and eventually how large each graph would be.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I knew for this pixel blanket, I wanted a closed square. Unlike the granny squares I made for Little C's butterfly baby blanket.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I ended up using a 2" square from Elisabeth Andree of <a href="https://elisabethandree.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">About Crochet</a>. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(Pattern found <a href="https://elisabethandree.wordpress.com/2012/05/08/practice-crochet-stitches-to-make-a-garland-a/" target="_blank"><strong><span style="color: black;">HERE</span></strong></a>!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The smaller square allows me to use 9 - 16x16 graphs in the blanket's finally design; or 3 stacks of 3.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Do you like how all the numbers are starting to come out?? </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My final measurements of the blanket will be approximately 108" x 108", including a border. </div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That's the same as a King sized blanket!!</div>

For the detachable bow, I used a favorite pattern of mine by <a href="http://daisycottagedesigns.net/" target="_blank"><strong><span style="color: black;">Daisy Cottage Designs</span></strong></a> with 100% cotton yarn. I'll glue a piece of felt to the back, then glue the felt to an alligator clip. Easy peasy....</div>

** I originally had this post written up a month ago but some technical difficulties with computers and drivers got the best of me. However, hats are always in season!!**<br />
<br />
It's hat season and I have suddenly found myself addicted to graph patterns!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There are two different graph hat patterns that I have found and been working with:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.oikoshandmade.com/" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: black;">Oikos Handmade</span></b></a> and <a href="http://www.playinhookydesigns.com/" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: black;">Playin' Hooky Designs</span></b></a>, 'The Graph Beanie' </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
& </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.mnecrafts.com/p/graph-hat-patterns.html" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: black;">MNE Crafts Graph Hats</span></b></a> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It started with running in to a <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/crochet-graph---ninja-turtle-color-grid" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: black;">Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle graph pattern</span></b></a> from Playin' Hooky Designs. She had a sale on it for her son's birthday a while back and Big C *loves* TMNT, so I figured, let's give it a shot!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aFKJ_VbxB6U/VOof_u7XBFI/AAAAAAAABAs/WFzpMCcvYTI/s1600/IMG_2460.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aFKJ_VbxB6U/VOof_u7XBFI/AAAAAAAABAs/WFzpMCcvYTI/s1600/IMG_2460.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The TMNT graph pattern accompanies her base beanie pattern, found <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-graph-beanie" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: black;">HERE</span></b></a> on Ravelry.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
** You will need the base beanie pattern before using her graph patterns. **</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have seen MNE Crafts Graph Hats on Pinterest and in the Facebook world before, even more-so lately with the addition of her Valentine's Day designs, and I loved how clean the graph transfers.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Since they are two hats using graphs in a completely different way, I decided to see which one worked best for me. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
To start, here are some things I was looking for and comparing:</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<ul>
<li>Difficulty in the pattern/instructions.</li>
<li>Size of graph allowed.</li>
<li>How well the graph transferred to the hat.</li>
<li>Finished Product</li>
<ul>
<li>weight</li>
<li>feel/texture</li>
<li>stretch/sizing</li>
<li>appearance when worn</li>
</ul>
</ul>
<div>
* Please note: The following comparison is just my experience. Extra tips or ideas regarding either of these designs is welcomed and encouraged to comment below! Size used in comparisons was a child large/adult small*</div>
<div>
<u><br />
</u></div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><u>Pattern Difficulty:</u></li>
</ul>
</div>
<div>
Both patterns are fairly easy, however one ended up being easier to follow than the other due to less details involved.</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
* MNE's hat is made in the round using a front-post double crochet (Fpdc). The first 3-5 rounds, depending on hat size, use increasing stitches. Because of the increasing stitches, this means it's harder to work a graph pattern in the top portion of the hat. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
* Playin' Hooky works in rows with a back-loop stitch through-out, no increasing stitches are needed.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The simplest pattern, for me, ended up being the Graph Beanie from Playin' Hooky Designs. The pattern instructions consist of a few rows which you continue until your desired width while adding the graph when necessary.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><u>Size of Graph Allowed:</u></li>
</ul>
</div>
<div>
This is where I found the two differed the most. One has a much smaller area to work a graph pattern than the other. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
* MNE's hat can fit a 15 X 60 graph (small adult size). This works great for smaller graphs and because the hat works in the round, you can easily carry the yarn and add the same design multiple times. </div>
<div>
<u>Example:</u> <a href="http://www.mnecrafts.com/2014/12/ring-around-hearts-beanie.html" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: black;">MNE's 'Ring Around the Hearts Beanie'</span></b></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
* Playin' Hooky's beanie can fit a 27 X 63 graph (small adult size), allowing for most of the hat to be used. I felt this gave me many more design options.</div>
<div>
Example: <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/snowflake-color-grid" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: black;">Playin' Hooky Designs 'Snowflake Color Grid' on Ravelry</span></b></a></div>
<div>
<b><br />
</b><strong>Note: </strong>You can easily adjust the size of hat & graph by switching your hook size. Smaller hook = larger graph.</div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=431455&u=972273&m=29190&urllink=&afftrack=" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="Online Crochet Class" border="0" src="http://static.shareasale.com/image/29190/BLJH_0001_728x90_v1.jpg" height="47" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div>
<ul>
<li><u>Graph Transfer:</u></li>
</ul>
<div>
How well each graph transfers between patterns is a personal preference, but because each one uses such different techniques, I used the same graph with each pattern to show the difference.</div>
</div>
<div>
One uses a front-post and the other a back-loop, not only does the appearance differ, but so does the size.</div>
With Playin' Hooky's pattern, I was able to carry the yarn and continue using the one strand, creating less bulk and ends to weave in.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VlOS5dcY-LY/VOolIhXbTmI/AAAAAAAABBw/thHRHAmuuGU/s1600/IMG_2520.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VlOS5dcY-LY/VOolIhXbTmI/AAAAAAAABBw/thHRHAmuuGU/s1600/IMG_2520.JPG" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
MNE's working-in-the-round design created extra padding behind the ghost and Pac-Man when carrying the yarn. You could snip the yarn at the end of each round, keeping in mind this creates more ends to weave in.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vxT92LRkPfo/VOolQAj4s_I/AAAAAAAABB4/AvmmWzjuWkA/s1600/IMG_2522.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vxT92LRkPfo/VOolQAj4s_I/AAAAAAAABB4/AvmmWzjuWkA/s1600/IMG_2522.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<br />
Below I used the same Pac-Man ghost graph for each pattern. The ruler shows the size difference and you can clearly see how the front-post compares to the back-loop version.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UKzowxemVVo/VOojdRRF6qI/AAAAAAAABBk/l6CHZU09zfY/s1600/IMG_2511.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UKzowxemVVo/VOojdRRF6qI/AAAAAAAABBk/l6CHZU09zfY/s1600/IMG_2511.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Which one do you choose?</div>
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<ul>
<li><u>Finished Product:</u></li>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<ul>
<li><b>Weight</b> :: MNE has a lot of bulk to it. This is most likely due to the use of the Fpdc, as well as the stitch increases in the beginning rounds. Playin' Hooky Designs has a much lighter feel.</li>
<li><b>Feel/Texture </b>:: Playin' Hooky Designs use of the back-loop throughout gives their beanie a ribbed/bumpy feel and appearance where MNE's has more of a smooth line look to it. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-S8vyPRA0Sog/VOopNfkeJ6I/AAAAAAAABCY/Fht3Nn3ocpk/s1600/PicMonkey%2BCollage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-S8vyPRA0Sog/VOopNfkeJ6I/AAAAAAAABCY/Fht3Nn3ocpk/s1600/PicMonkey%2BCollage.jpg" height="160" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
</li>
<li><b>Stretch and Sizing</b> :: (As stated earlier, I used the child/small adult size for both test pieces.) With the added bulk in MNE's design, I felt it didn't allow much stretch. You can see in the picture below, that it's slightly tight on Big C's head. Playin' Hooky's beanie with the back-loop not only gives the ribbed effect, but it's also very stretchy and extremely forgiving if your sizing is slightly off. </li>

<span style="color: red; font-size: large;"><strong><u>UPDATE:</u></strong><span style="color: black;"> <span style="font-size: small;">MNE Crafts recently released a photo tutorial for her graph hat patterns showing different methods for carrying the yarn and sizing options. She is even starting on larger graph designs!! Check all this out in the link below:</span></span></span><br />

While browsing Etsy, many moons ago, I ran in to this great little shop called </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheAmateurNaturalist" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: black;">The Amateur Naturalist</span></b></a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Obviously, I immediately fell in love with the butterflies! In fact, the first item I 'favorited' was the large butterfly terrarium for weddings. There are so many different species, colors and beauty in just the butterflies alone!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
BUT, that's not why we are here! No, no! We are here to share our first purchase. One of many to come since it was such a big hit. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Are you ready??? It may be scary.......</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-a5Ms93WQ2pc/VKxHI9_KZ5I/AAAAAAAAA9w/jiCOPba4LaA/s1600/IMG_2270.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-a5Ms93WQ2pc/VKxHI9_KZ5I/AAAAAAAAA9w/jiCOPba4LaA/s1600/IMG_2270.JPG" height="251" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b style="font-size: x-large;">The Horned Beetle!</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The Horned Beetle was my first pick as a Christmas present, inspired by one of our favorite movies, 'A Bug's Life.'</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://pixarplanet.com/blog/images/642.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="http://pixarplanet.com/blog/images/642.jpg" height="269" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Big C LOVES him! Telling me, and anyone who will listen, everything he learned about this guy from the included information pamphlet. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have to say, I learned a few things too....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NvqHxBTmywY/VKxHJf6_YVI/AAAAAAAAA-A/faxDqtbRi5A/s1600/IMG_2362.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NvqHxBTmywY/VKxHJf6_YVI/AAAAAAAAA-A/faxDqtbRi5A/s1600/IMG_2362.JPG" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My favorite part, besides the learning, was how he arrived to us. All packaged neatly with his little attachments and decorations.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-44FT_-jqZDY/VKxHI6D3PWI/AAAAAAAAA9s/IABa-iY_hVA/s1600/IMG_2268.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-44FT_-jqZDY/VKxHI6D3PWI/AAAAAAAAA9s/IABa-iY_hVA/s1600/IMG_2268.JPG" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EmpyZlId7dk/VKxHI6BCenI/AAAAAAAAA9o/rtPFHmFKvYE/s1600/IMG_2269.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EmpyZlId7dk/VKxHI6BCenI/AAAAAAAAA9o/rtPFHmFKvYE/s1600/IMG_2269.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It was *lots* of fun creating his home for him.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-atvJXFusdss/VKxHJuWPSlI/AAAAAAAAA90/wIF3JlRbgP8/s1600/IMG_2364.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-atvJXFusdss/VKxHJuWPSlI/AAAAAAAAA90/wIF3JlRbgP8/s1600/IMG_2364.JPG" height="320" width="256" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And now he sleeps with Big C, in the corner of his bed, always in a cool dark place ;)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We have already gone through <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheAmateurNaturalist" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: black;">The Amateur Naturalist</span></b></a> site together and picked out our next bug!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I definitely recommend these terrariums for any nature enthusiast, someone who likes bugs, for learning at home, or just because it's pretty cool to have bugs!</div>

I have finally finished my newest pillow cover!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4W8nyKLV-XA/VHYO3skfNaI/AAAAAAAAA80/tsNl5-orb8o/s1600/IMG_2179.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4W8nyKLV-XA/VHYO3skfNaI/AAAAAAAAA80/tsNl5-orb8o/s1600/IMG_2179.JPG" height="320" width="304" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After purchasing Jera Brandvig's, 'Quilt As-You-Go Made Modern', for my numerous quilting projects *and* reading it all the way through the day I got it..... I felt the urge to do a quick little project.<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7CPHgcrYkAA/VHYO2dE3zlI/AAAAAAAAA8s/FwOXj_y2cTU/s1600/IMG_2176.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7CPHgcrYkAA/VHYO2dE3zlI/AAAAAAAAA8s/FwOXj_y2cTU/s1600/IMG_2176.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
{Got my supplies and am ready to create!}</div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Even though I have already tried a few of her tutorials on <a href="http://modabakeshop.com/" target="_blank">Moda Bake Shop</a>, there was a bunch of new things I learned in her book. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thankfully, she had a pillow cover project in there. Short and sweet, before I tackle the big stuff.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BcGsbgN7oGM/VHYO2U03kxI/AAAAAAAAA8o/7oX3_h2mo2Q/s1600/IMG_2170.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BcGsbgN7oGM/VHYO2U03kxI/AAAAAAAAA8o/7oX3_h2mo2Q/s1600/IMG_2170.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
{Front and back of pillow cover top.}</div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used a different layout than her pillow cover in the book, but how the star was pieced together with the QAYG technique is in the book as well.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-l6c2kT6-ovk/VHYO2SCNeDI/AAAAAAAAA9I/D1k089HL_ic/s1600/IMG_2171.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-l6c2kT6-ovk/VHYO2SCNeDI/AAAAAAAAA9I/D1k089HL_ic/s1600/IMG_2171.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
{Front and back pieces sewn together. You can see the piece-by-piece quilting done on each square.}</div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It was a lot of fun to try something new and I can't wait to use this for all my quilting needs. The technique is extremely helpful for the limited amount of space, not to mention, the limited amount of time I have in a day. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

While going through my fall tote, I found some kid activities that I got on *super* clearance last year from <a href="http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-7602690-11800525" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: black; font-size: large;">Michaels</span></b></a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I like getting things when they are ridiculously cheap...... I mean, who doesn't??</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, when a chilly day occurred with construction workers digging up the road, leaving us no way to leave, I decided to put these fall harvest foam stickers to use with the kids.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-R89LxAu6biM/VGLAkiSq6XI/AAAAAAAAA78/647XH9RjgL4/s1600/IMG_2103.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-R89LxAu6biM/VGLAkiSq6XI/AAAAAAAAA78/647XH9RjgL4/s320/IMG_2103.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Using white card stock paper, markers/crayons, the foam stickers and a little imagination, we started creating little scenes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
{I love that they love being creative <3}</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SefzSWc9tXY/VGLAkSWPY5I/AAAAAAAAA74/T74lN_db6TQ/s1600/IMG_2100.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SefzSWc9tXY/VGLAkSWPY5I/AAAAAAAAA74/T74lN_db6TQ/s320/IMG_2100.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After much deliberation and story telling, we finally finished our scenes and put them on display on the back door.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
** Pardon the poor pictures :/ **</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Big C's amazing creation!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
He said they are having a picnic and it is sun raining!! It does that often here.... the raining bit.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MtyHF_mEt04/VGLAloBfaEI/AAAAAAAAA8Q/lotjBy_tgbA/s1600/IMG_2120.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MtyHF_mEt04/VGLAloBfaEI/AAAAAAAAA8Q/lotjBy_tgbA/s320/IMG_2120.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Little C's beautiful creation:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JzqN0bcQBnk/VGLAlAJsjXI/AAAAAAAAA8E/kHnXPS2AHC0/s1600/IMG_2121.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JzqN0bcQBnk/VGLAlAJsjXI/AAAAAAAAA8E/kHnXPS2AHC0/s320/IMG_2121.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And, of course, Mom had to join in on the fun!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-s3Umvq-IyCY/VGLAkaEAjLI/AAAAAAAAA8A/5Mn91HYk0aI/s1600/IMG_2119.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-s3Umvq-IyCY/VGLAkaEAjLI/AAAAAAAAA8A/5Mn91HYk0aI/s320/IMG_2119.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is a great project for any day and any season. We had fun telling stories about what our characters were doing and what our drawings were going to be. Great for the imagination!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Try it out this weekend before Thanksgiving, or get some Christmas themed ones....I spotted them in the store yesterday during a yarn run! :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Happy Friday Everyone!!</span></div>

If you are a <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ambrosias-Creations/426428210835849?ref=tn_tnmn" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: black;">Facebook</span></b></a> follower, you will know that we went on a scavenger hunt the other day!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pk1W0IXdccU/VGKw287rgbI/AAAAAAAAA6o/W4RVS3Crm-s/s1600/IMG_2106.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pk1W0IXdccU/VGKw287rgbI/AAAAAAAAA6o/W4RVS3Crm-s/s320/IMG_2106.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You can find the list we used from <a href="http://chalkboardstostrollers.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;">From Chalkboards To Strollers</span></a> <a href="http://chalkboardstostrollers.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/autumn-scavenger-hunt-for-toddlers-and.html" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: black; font-size: large;">here</span></b></a>!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We had *SO* much fun running around the front and back yard trying to find everything.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As you can see, Little C is having more fun coloring her list :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3rbhNqcOi7M/VGKw4SyN9hI/AAAAAAAAA6w/p0xQ8GCCVW4/s1600/IMG_2112.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3rbhNqcOi7M/VGKw4SyN9hI/AAAAAAAAA6w/p0xQ8GCCVW4/s320/IMG_2112.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Pumpkin, our friendliest chicken, even joined in on the fun!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-G6_aTOW8pjs/VGKw4kQFFPI/AAAAAAAAA64/wjBBgkUYGhM/s1600/IMG_2113.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-G6_aTOW8pjs/VGKw4kQFFPI/AAAAAAAAA64/wjBBgkUYGhM/s320/IMG_2113.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The hunt is complete:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zgHaQbiF64Y/VGKw4r7vHFI/AAAAAAAAA60/L2Zf0BbOtnE/s1600/IMG_2117.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zgHaQbiF64Y/VGKw4r7vHFI/AAAAAAAAA60/L2Zf0BbOtnE/s320/IMG_2117.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The day after our scavenger hunt, we used all our pretty fall findings and made sun catchers with them!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GlA2KU6vhIA/VGK067ME2nI/AAAAAAAAA7M/I8_uWQHZpHI/s1600/IMG_2125.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="228" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GlA2KU6vhIA/VGK067ME2nI/AAAAAAAAA7M/I8_uWQHZpHI/s320/IMG_2125.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Our supplies consisted of:</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<ul>
<li>Scavenger hunt findings</li>
<li>Paper plates</li>
<li>Markers (or whatever you wish to color your plates with)</li>
<li>Scissors </li>
<li>Laminate</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I had the kids color the outside ring of their paper plates......</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-APFfqWESTVQ/VGK20-G_JzI/AAAAAAAAA7c/fcOUzaDewp0/s1600/IMG_2132.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-APFfqWESTVQ/VGK20-G_JzI/AAAAAAAAA7c/fcOUzaDewp0/s320/IMG_2132.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fY029ViOYxg/VGK20wypK9I/AAAAAAAAA7k/didp21rG0ko/s1600/IMG_2133.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fY029ViOYxg/VGK20wypK9I/AAAAAAAAA7k/didp21rG0ko/s320/IMG_2133.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once they were finished coloring, I cut out the center of the paper plates and two pieces of laminate for each plate.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The first piece of laminate I placed on the front with the sticky side facing the back of the plate.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(You can do this either way, just make sure the front of your foliage is facing the front of your sun catcher!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, we started placing our flowers, leaves and grass on the sticky part of the laminate, making sure everything was face down.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When you have filled your sun catcher up with the desired amount of foliage, put the second piece of laminate on the back side; keeping everything in place.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Finally, put them on display!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QuShdo0dY24/VGK20xsQQkI/AAAAAAAAA7Y/8Tiatqfnu2Q/s1600/IMG_2135.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QuShdo0dY24/VGK20xsQQkI/AAAAAAAAA7Y/8Tiatqfnu2Q/s400/IMG_2135.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Inspired by <a href="http://www.repeatcrafterme.com/" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: black;">Repeat Crafter Me</span></b></a>'s crochet hippo hat, I created this hippo hooded towel for my daughter by sketching out a similar snout and teeth to Sarah's crochet version.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
(Get the FREE crochet pattern from Repeat Crafter Me <a href="http://www.repeatcrafterme.com/2014/06/crochet-hippo-hat-pattern.html" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: black;">here</span></b></a>!!!)</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My first sketches turned out much too big, but the second attempt was perfect!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

The creation of this blanket came to mind when my neighbor was diagnosed with breast cancer. Their entire family have always been so nice to ours, so I felt like doing what I knew best..... creating something especially for her.<br />
<br />
Her daughter told me that her favorite colors were blues and greens. I immediately thought of the ocean, even though it doesn't really seem ocean-esque, and went in search of a color palette and a chevron pattern that I saved in my <a href="http://ravelry.com/" target="_blank">Ravelry</a> library a while back.<br />
<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pattern I used was <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sunglasses-required---an-easy-crochet-lap-blanket" target="_blank">Sunglasses Required by Jacqui Walker</a>. I like how quickly the piece worked up with the color changes and my neighbor raved about the close stitches.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Most of the yarn I used was <a href="http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-7602731-11800525" target="_blank">Michaels</a> Loops & Threads Impeccable with one skein of Caron United and Vanna's Choice.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You will need 1 (one) skein of each colored yarn and 2 (two) skeins of white. I got the jumbo sized skein in white using the 50% off coupon and have LOTS leftover!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<u>Supplies:</u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<u><br /></u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<li style="text-align: left;">White (Main Color-MC) </li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Tan (A) - </li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Brown (B) - </li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Butterscotch (C)</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Soft Fern (D)</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Fern (E)</li>

<ul>
<li style="text-align: left;">Silver Blue (H)</li>
</ul>
</ul>
<br />
For my piece, I increased the starting chain just enough to make it more of a lap-ghan.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ngUnIK4csro/VDxb7KAlhAI/AAAAAAAAA5k/gqZM5ZJB2gM/s1600/IMG_1846.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ngUnIK4csro/VDxb7KAlhAI/AAAAAAAAA5k/gqZM5ZJB2gM/s1600/IMG_1846.JPG" height="320" width="294" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
I continued with the pattern as originally written but created a different color scheme/pattern.<br />
<br />
This blanket goes as follows:<br />
<br />
Starting with the MC - 10 rows<br />
A through H - 4 rows each<br />
MC - 8 rows<br />
A through H - 4 rows each<br />
MC - 8 rows<br />
A through H - 4 rows each<br />
MC - 10 rows<br />
<br />
To finish the piece, instead of fastening off after my last row, I evenly hdc around the entire blanket, joining to the first hdc, fo, weave in ends<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mkdeEe-SVs0/VDxb7KIr_1I/AAAAAAAAA5o/Lm43HtLmCgw/s1600/IMG_1853.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mkdeEe-SVs0/VDxb7KIr_1I/AAAAAAAAA5o/Lm43HtLmCgw/s1600/IMG_1853.JPG" height="320" width="228" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
We adopted her from the Humane Society at 1.5 years old. She has been with us for almost 7 years now and has always loved one thing...... SLEEPING!! Her biggest 'pet' peeve is if you trim her bangs and she loves and good massage in the bath.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

This sweet girl was left in a friends driveway with her two brothers by some stranger. She has been with us for almost 3 years. LOVES to play catch and snuggle. Her new best friend is Edwyn, a kitten we recently rescued from the same friend we got LouAnn from.</div>

Cooler weather is just around the corner, which means it is about time to get started on those sweaters!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uwYnYmKXhWw/U-4xizE0PkI/AAAAAAAAA2g/DNrAqQohRMI/s1600/SweaterCollage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uwYnYmKXhWw/U-4xizE0PkI/AAAAAAAAA2g/DNrAqQohRMI/s1600/SweaterCollage.jpg" height="400" width="306" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Here are my 5 favorites that I picked while I was browsing:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="color: black;">1.<a href="http://www.yarnspirations.com/pattern/crochet/penny-arcade" style="font-weight: bold;" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;">Penny Arcade by Yarnspirations</span></a></span>: An Intermediate pattern in sizes S - 3XL. Open worked and over-sized, this piece is sure to be a hit this fall season! If made with a nice wool fiber, it's guaranteed to keep you warm, even with all the giant holes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
2. <a href="http://www.garnstudio.com/lang/us/pattern.php?id=5550&lang=us" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: black;">Country Rose by DROPS Design</span></b></a>: Pattern available in sizes S - 2XL. Even though I may have found this pattern in the Summer section, I think it would be great for Fall too! Simple, yet elegant.<br />
<br />
3. <a href="http://www.garnstudio.com/lang/us/pattern.php?id=4872&lang=us" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: black;">Lace Sweater from DROPS Design</span></b></a>: Pattern available in sizes XS - 2XL. I *LOVE* the classic look of this sweater. The ruffle around the bust and single bit of accent color for the trim is what I love the most. This pattern has options for a stripe look or solid, like the one shown.<br />
<br />
4. <a href="http://www.redheart.co.uk/free-patterns/drapey-crochet-cardigan" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: black;">Drapey Cardigan from Red Heart</span></b></a>: An easy pattern in sizes S - 3XL. This drapey cardigan with three-quarter length sleeves is just right for the Summer to Fall transition. Make it in your favorite color or a neutral tone so it can go with multiple outfits.<br />
<br />
5. <a href="http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/70210A.html" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: black;">Cowl Neck Sweater from Lion Brand</span></b></a>: Another easy pattern in sizes XS - 2XL. What isn't there to love about this one?? It looks extra comfy and has a cowl! The pattern is labeled as easy and would be perfect for someone who it attempting a garment for the first time.<br />
<br />
<b>** BONUS SWEATER **</b><br />

Such an unfaithful blogger I have been...... I would like to blame it on the addition of social media. More status updating than blog posting.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Finally, some clothing pieces that I have been working on forever!!! The Keila top makes me nervous because of the fabric that I am using, but I am determined to make it happen. I mean, I *am* at the point of no return on it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I added a stencil on each corner with some darker stain and now all it needs is its finish coat and to be hung on the wall!! I am SO SO SO excited for this to be finished and hope it adds some organization to my chaotic office that is spread through-out the dining room!</div>

If you've never heard of <a href="http://www.craftsy.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;">Craftsy</span></a>, you *need* to head over there now!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A couple of weeks ago, they had this really great sale that I saw advertised through <a href="http://www.mooglyblog.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;">Moogly</span></a> (great crochet there, check her out too!!), and I decided to create an order with all different types of yarn that I have been dying to try!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Not only are their sale prices great, but their regular prices aren't that bad either. I have already decided that this will be the place to get my imported yarns and special fabrics that I can't find at my usual places.<br />
<br />
Let's start with the yarn:<br />
<br />
First up, <a href="http://www.craftsy.com/supplies/cascade-cherub-dk-yarn/2009" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;"><b>Cascade Sherub DK Yarn</b></span></a>: They don't lie when they say this yarn is soft! It's definitely snuggle worthy. Last I checked, this yarn is still on sale for a great price! Crazy thing, they are a local company for me, in Seattle; yet, I can't find this yarn anywhere!!! Gah! Small stores perhaps? I may need to take a trip up North.....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-T0amS0005xM/U79EzxAvZdI/AAAAAAAAAzo/mB-k7n4UwSc/s1600/IMG_1327.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-T0amS0005xM/U79EzxAvZdI/AAAAAAAAAzo/mB-k7n4UwSc/s1600/IMG_1327.JPG" height="228" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Next, <a href="http://www.craftsy.com/supplies/brown-sheep-nature-spun-fingering-yarn/2182" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;"><b>Brown Sheep Nature Spun Fingering Yarn</b></span></a>: I have purchased different brands of wool yarn before and I have to say, I enjoy the feel of Brown Sheep the most. Since I only purchased one ball, I will most likely make some finger-less gloves for winter.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2hxct5RDgqQ/U79Ez4BwRHI/AAAAAAAAAzs/QuQz4DRVMCw/s1600/IMG_1328.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2hxct5RDgqQ/U79Ez4BwRHI/AAAAAAAAAzs/QuQz4DRVMCw/s1600/IMG_1328.JPG" height="320" width="228" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="http://www.craftsy.com/supplies/schachenmayr-micro-grande/4098" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;"><b>Schachenmayr Micro Grande</b></span></a>: This yarn is 100% acrylic and is noted for being great to make accessories with its silky feel. Maybe a little cardigan for Miss Cayley?<br />
<a href="http://www.craftsy.com/supplies/Schachenmayr-Catania-Yarn/3623" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;"><b>Schachenmayr Catania Yarn</b></span></a>: 100% cotton yarn with added sheen. I may combine it with the Micro Grande to create the cardigan.<br />
Both of these yarns are made in Hungary.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NxnKSKJs6dU/U79Ez7HH6zI/AAAAAAAAAz8/OFKOXVLc8BI/s1600/IMG_1329.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NxnKSKJs6dU/U79Ez7HH6zI/AAAAAAAAAz8/OFKOXVLc8BI/s1600/IMG_1329.JPG" height="320" width="228" /></a></div>
<br />
Finally, we have <a href="http://www.craftsy.com/supplies/Filatura-Di-Crosa-Nirvana-Yarn/3042" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;"><b>Filatura Di Crosa Nirvana Yarn</b></span></a>: Quite a few things made me pick this yarn. First, being made in Italy and me being part Italian. Second, it's named Nirvana. Seattle = Nirvana, you know?? Lastly, it's wool and lace weight. Perfect for my very own personal cowl!! The texture reminds of some vintage embroidery wool that I found at an estate sale a couple of years ago. I can't wait to find the perfect pattern for this lovely bit of fiber.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rv6m2HV1U4k/U79E0tw2d7I/AAAAAAAAAz0/5lhZMZSQ_o4/s1600/IMG_1330.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rv6m2HV1U4k/U79E0tw2d7I/AAAAAAAAAz0/5lhZMZSQ_o4/s1600/IMG_1330.JPG" height="228" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Don't forget the fabric!!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><a href="http://www.craftsy.com/supplies/moda-folklore-by-lily-ashbury-layer-cake/4504?_ct=fvi-rejjec-sheiiiubb-3&_ctp=4503_4504" target="_blank"><span style="color: #444444;">Moda Folklore by Lily Ashbury</span></a></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: black;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: black;">I'll just post the pictures, because they speak for themselves. I can't wait to see what I can make with this.... pillow cover, scrappy-esque throw, grab some matching solids and make a full quilt..... I'll let you know when I find out :)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

There have been many things going on here, let me tell you. Mostly ideas being gathered and then scattered, but it all leads to something in the end, right??</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Let's start with my first Etsy purchase, vintage sheet fat quarters!!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MRxa3plpezc/U7roUkpW0xI/AAAAAAAAAx4/Nu1ReEDKNwI/s1600/IMG_1322.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MRxa3plpezc/U7roUkpW0xI/AAAAAAAAAx4/Nu1ReEDKNwI/s1600/IMG_1322.JPG" height="228" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/MidwestVintageCo" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;"><b>Midwest Vintage Co.</b></span></a> has a great collection of vintage fabrics and her latest shop announcement is that she is selling her stash, so get them while you can!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I picked the floral fat quarter bundle and a random fat quarter bundle.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-L2TvwwKzJg4/U7roUs-MknI/AAAAAAAAAx8/N1VVmTdBiS4/s1600/IMG_1325.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-L2TvwwKzJg4/U7roUs-MknI/AAAAAAAAAx8/N1VVmTdBiS4/s1600/IMG_1325.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-I_JzWnHl73k/U7roUhgxmCI/AAAAAAAAAx0/Rt_IkxdfBCE/s1600/IMG_1323.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-I_JzWnHl73k/U7roUhgxmCI/AAAAAAAAAx0/Rt_IkxdfBCE/s1600/IMG_1323.JPG" height="228" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Love them all!! They have inspired me to keep an eye out for vintage sheets on my estate sale adventures!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you were following on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ambrosias-Creations/426428210835849?ref=hl&ref_type=bookmark" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;"><b>Facebook</b></span></a>, you know I set the pattern increase aside for the <span style="color: black;"><b><a href="http://ambrosiascreations.blogspot.com/2014/06/pattern-pineapple-crochet-market-bag.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;">Pineapple Market Bag</span></a> </b></span>to work on what I call, 'Nana's Hug'. <br />
If you "like" my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ambrosias-Creations/426428210835849?ref=hl" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;">Facebook</span></a> page, then you know that I have been working on translating a crochet chart for this insanely cute tote/market bag/hand bag....the name is really your choice!</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Either way, I liked the design and thought it would perfect for a summer time market bag, or even a jumbo beach bag, with some tweaking of the pattern.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Unfortunately, when I pinned this cute picture on <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/ambrosias/crochet/" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;">Pinterest</span></a>, I didn't realize with was a 'chart only' pattern. *insert sad face*</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thankfully, I know how to translate crochet charts!!! At least the more basic ones anyways......</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
** This post is just for the size above. Stay tuned for larger sizes!**</div>

25. Joining row; ch 2- sl st to dc of row 25 on first strap- ch 1- sc in ch 3 sp- ch 1- sl st to ch sp on first strap- ch 2- sl st to sc to join- fasten off- weave in ends</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You have just completed your first handle!! Well, almost ;)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For your next handle & strap combo, you are going to do exactly the same as the others.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
* Join yarn with a sl st 10 ch sps from the end of your beginning row 1 (stitch marker 2) and continue the handle pattern, First and Second 1/2, as above.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To finish, evenly sc around the inside and outside of the straps, weave in the ends and enjoy your new bag!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u>Note:</u> the chart shows specific placing for the finishing sc edge, but I just eye balled it to make it easier :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
So far, I have made a bag with the original pattern size and a jumbo version. I say jumbo (x-large size in pattern), because the thing is huge when I start piling in all my goodies!!!<br />

The weather has been unusually warm this past week, which had me daydreaming of summer. Tank tops, flip flops, barbecues, camping, concerts, festivals...... and what better way to get ready for summer than by starting to update your wardrobe with this collection of crochet tops!!<br />

<li><b><u><a href="http://www.redheart.com/free-patterns/lace-topper" target="_blank"><span style="color: #444444;">Lace Topper</span></a></u></b> designed by Kimberly K. McAlindin for <a href="http://redheart.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">Red Heart Yarns</span></a> - I love how this top is open-worked, lacy and designed to have a flowing effect. Perfect for summer but may also be used during cooler months with a longer sleeved shirt underneath. The downloadable directions are for sizes S-XL.</li>
<li><b><u><a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/keila-top" target="_blank"><span style="color: #444444;">Keila Top</span></a></u></b> by Handy Kitty - I like this top so much, I am already working on one! You can also change the design by adjusting almost any square and triangle motif to fit the size you need.</li>
<li><b><u><a href="http://www.yarnspirations.com/pattern/crochet/party-pool-coverup" target="_blank"><span style="color: #444444;">Party by the Pool Cover-up</span></a></u></b> designed by Shannon Mullett-Bowlsby for <span style="color: blue;"><a href="http://yarnspirations.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">Yarnspirations</span></a> </span>- Cover-ups are all over the place and who doesn't love something that has a hood on it? I will be working on the Keila Top this weekend since the rain has found it's way back to us *and* finishing two shop pieces! Hopefully, your weekend has brought you better weather than me. In case it hasn't, maybe this round-up will inspire you to start a project where you can at least dream of the sunshine!</div>

This weekend, the downtown library had one of their huge book sales! I just love going to these!! There is always a large amount of books of all kinds. The first sale of theirs that I went to was a few years ago and it was a bag of books for $5.00!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
Let's get to the goods...the BOOKS!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have only read one of these, but I've heard/know of most of them. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o2XWdHuntws/U2cO59efUFI/AAAAAAAAAsY/WPUJuOlMXD8/s1600/IMG_0987.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o2XWdHuntws/U2cO59efUFI/AAAAAAAAAsY/WPUJuOlMXD8/s1600/IMG_0987.JPG" height="228" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="text-align: left;"><u><br /></u></span></div>
<ol><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-X1WVNojKioM/U2cPHXoil0I/AAAAAAAAAsg/5eyRBWfXmTI/s1600/IMG_0988.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-X1WVNojKioM/U2cPHXoil0I/AAAAAAAAAsg/5eyRBWfXmTI/s1600/IMG_0988.JPG" height="228" width="320" /></a>
<li><u>Little Women by Louisa M. Alcott</u>: A timeless classic, originally published in 1868. The edition I found at the library sale is a Complete Authorized Edition with the oldest copyright being 1911! All my research points to this book being from the 1911 print with the description of the illustrations inside and pictures of the cover. I have a newer version of this book, which I will donate now that I have found this copy. My favorite part of this find? The sticker on the inside: </li>
<li><u>The Catcher In The Rye by J. D. Salinger</u>: Published in 1951, this is a book I have never read but heard of. I believe the higher achieving kids in High School had it as their reading requirements. The edition I found is from 1999 and by the looks of the cover, is obviously a mass print for being handed out in schools. I am excited to read this book. I've read that it deals with personal struggles that are always relevant, high school or adult; alienation, belonging, figuring out who you are... NOTE: Strange connection warning.... Apparently this book mentions another book I found at the sale, Out of Africa by Isak Dinesen. </li>
<li><u>Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen</u>: Another book that I am surprised to not already own or have read *and* was High School reading. First published in 1813, this one is also a mass print, my copy being from 2003. I am sure this story is familiar to most with television shows, movies, plays..... too many adaptations to miss.</li>
<li><u>A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway</u>: We all know the author, but do you know of this book? Published in 1929, my edition being the copyright renewal in 1957. Apparently, this was his first 'best-seller' and a great love story. </li>
<li><u>Out of Africa by Isak Dinesen</u>: Published in 1937, this copy is a 1963 reprint with an added introduction from Time Reading program. Something made me grab this book, I don't know what..... then, I found the connection to 'The Catcher in the Rye', and that made it more interesting! <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mA-NbnK69kU/U2cRafww8tI/AAAAAAAAAss/OyztFpecAvQ/s1600/IMG_0992.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mA-NbnK69kU/U2cRafww8tI/AAAAAAAAAss/OyztFpecAvQ/s1600/IMG_0992.JPG" height="320" width="288" /></a></div>
</li>
<li><u>A Passage to India by E. M. Forster</u>: We're 'out of Africa', might as well take 'a passage to India', right? Sorry, I couldn't resist :) First published in 1924, this copy being from 1952. Again, I don't know why I grabbed the book, but I am looking forward to reading it!</li>
<li><u>Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller</u>: Another reading that I missed out on but am still interested in! I am sure most of you know that this is a major award winning play, first premiering in February of 1949. The copy I found is from 1969, but states it's the forty-second printing!! That's a lot in 20 years!</li>
<li><u>A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry</u>: Denzel Washington is currently starring in this play on Broadway. This is how I knew of it and what peaked my interest. First premiering in March of 1959, this copy being from....1959! However, it's the seventh printing...</li>
<li><u>The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain</u>: First published in the UK in 1884, then here in 1885, the earlier publications do not contain "The" in the title. My copy is from 1959 and full of little notes from a previous owner, adding a little extra to an already familiar tale.</li>
<li style="text-align: left;"><u>The Day Lincoln was Shot by Jim Bishop</u>: Published in 1955, this copy being one of the originals! The only thing missing is the jacket..... I know there are many books about the history of President Lincoln, but the age and jagged, yellow pages always get me. These next three were ones that I have seen before, either in the store or at previous book sales. I figured, 'why not?', the more books there are to read, the more occupied I will be! Besides, summer is coming! They aren't the oldies, but they sounded good at the time :) <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XTr0SlOWSV0/U2e_lvS1XJI/AAAAAAAAAs8/X9XZfk8cgWE/s1600/IMG_0998.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XTr0SlOWSV0/U2e_lvS1XJI/AAAAAAAAAs8/X9XZfk8cgWE/s1600/IMG_0998.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
</li>
<li style="text-align: left;"><u>The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski</u>: Published in 2008 - First Edition </li>
<li style="text-align: left;"><u>Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt</u>: First published in 1996, this copy being the First Touchstone Edition. Most likely a re-print from when the sequel, 'Tis, was released. </li>
<li style="text-align: left;"><u style="text-align: center;">The Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova</u><span style="text-align: center;">: Published in 2010 - First Edition <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2g6RvA1B4pI/U2fD9H4RzWI/AAAAAAAAAtI/EgAXm7fDw40/s1600/IMG_0995.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2g6RvA1B4pI/U2fD9H4RzWI/AAAAAAAAAtI/EgAXm7fDw40/s1600/IMG_0995.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
</span></li>
</ol>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We can't forget the kids!!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<ol>
<li><u>Freddy Fox Squirrel by R. W. Eschmeyer</u>: First published in 1952, this being the second edition from 1953. Who can resist a book with a squirrel on it??</li>
<li><u>Aesops Fables by Aesops</u>: Dover Publications 1994 - Aesops goes back to ancient times and these stories have been around for generations, teaching children morals and values.</li>
<li><u>Home For A Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown</u>: A Golden Book, sixth printing, 1976 - first published in 1956. Now, if you know my son, then you know why I got this book. He is on an endearing quest to convince us that he needs a bunny!!</li>
<li><u>Animal Mix & Match by Caryl Koelling</u>: First Delacorte print, April 1980 - first published in 1977. What isn't there to love about this book? </li>
</ol>

<br />
One day, I will have books everywhere. I feel they are a dying breed with all the e-readers coming out and that makes me horribly sad. Books have always brought me comfort, especially the older ones with their pages that aren't perfectly cut, the sturdiness, or lack of, in the binding. Most importantly, the smell. Books heighten the senses....<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are enjoying the start to this week!! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-imUk1O8KJK4/U1hVPAdr96I/AAAAAAAAAsE/mvsXSCDpXS4/s1600/IMG_0856.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-imUk1O8KJK4/U1hVPAdr96I/AAAAAAAAAsE/mvsXSCDpXS4/s1600/IMG_0856.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Is it just me, or is the popularity of the party hat dying? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My son is 4, my daughter just turned 1 and I have to say, this is the first party hat for us..... weird....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I remember having them at EVERY party when I was a kid!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Maybe it's how plain they have become? Or flimsy... and feeling like a useless waste of money?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well, let's spice up the party hat and do a little up-cycling at the same time!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My inspiration came from Helena at <a href="http://craftandcreativity.com/blog/" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: black;">Craft and Creativity</span></b></a>. Her tutorial can be found <b><u><a href="http://craftandcreativity.com/blog/2013/04/15/partycrowns/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #444444;">here</span></a></u></b>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I instantly fell in love with this idea instead of the ones you get at the store, and how she used washi tape instead of paint. I ended up using Sparkle Tape by Darice for mine. It seemed perfect for the look I wanted for my crowns.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Not to mention, a crown is quite fitting for a Very Merry Un-Birthday!! Boy or girl! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, let's get started!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<u><b>Supplies:</b></u></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2YuDRQ0C2qM/U1f09yj-npI/AAAAAAAAAqw/jUcR61n5Rkk/s1600/IMG_0843.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2YuDRQ0C2qM/U1f09yj-npI/AAAAAAAAAqw/jUcR61n5Rkk/s1600/IMG_0843.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: left;">Toilet paper or paper towel rolls</li>
<li style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://darice.com/store/search?s=sparkle%20tape&p=1&ps=40&o=0" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;">Sparkle Tape</span></a> (multiple colors)</li>
<li style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://www.joann.com/jewelry-fundamentals-cords-and-more-thick-elastic-cord-variety-pack--romance/12314993.html#q=thick+elastic+cord&start=10" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;">Elastic cord</span></a></li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Hole punch</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Scissors</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To start, I cut all my strips of tape that I would need. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the toilet paper roll, I used 5.5" strips. The paper towel rolls needed to be a tad longer.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tO84HCnchPw/U1f1p4cY-II/AAAAAAAAAq4/pOT-tesrV1A/s1600/IMG_0845.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tO84HCnchPw/U1f1p4cY-II/AAAAAAAAAq4/pOT-tesrV1A/s1600/IMG_0845.JPG" height="228" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next, I layered the strips of tape on the toilet paper roll, starting at the bottom/top, creating a stripe pattern. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Feel free to make whatever design you want. I just used the stripe pattern for this post :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Va6z4S5tnws/U1f2lCuF1yI/AAAAAAAAArE/0atlUSt5cVk/s1600/IMG_0848.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Va6z4S5tnws/U1f2lCuF1yI/AAAAAAAAArE/0atlUSt5cVk/s1600/IMG_0848.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Continue adding strips of tape until the entire roll is covered. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Note: I used 7 strips on every toilet paper roll. Some rolls ended up having a little bit of extra cardboard showing at the top, no fear, just trim that off! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qj4R5KB2feY/U1f2lL-FDCI/AAAAAAAAArA/9NRh1QWy6Wk/s1600/IMG_0849.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qj4R5KB2feY/U1f2lL-FDCI/AAAAAAAAArA/9NRh1QWy6Wk/s1600/IMG_0849.JPG" height="228" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now, cut the points of your crown. I cut a 'V' down to the third strip from the top.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1EGDD3EB254/U1f9AkkfRiI/AAAAAAAAArY/hf6oQcOUG8o/s1600/IMG_0851.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1EGDD3EB254/U1f9AkkfRiI/AAAAAAAAArY/hf6oQcOUG8o/s1600/IMG_0851.JPG" height="228" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Grab your hole punch and punch a hole on each side of the crown. (Make sure the seam of the strips is in the back! Don't want that bad boy showing...) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Also, if you have a lazy hole punch, like mine, you may need an Exacto knife to help guide that hole out a little bit...leaving a slightly sloppy hole. It works though!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, cut the elastic cord to the size needed. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used 17" for the smaller heads and 19" for all the larger ones.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-r9V0_r4D2w0/U1f9A9-735I/AAAAAAAAAro/pd1RUXD0s4M/s1600/IMG_0852.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-r9V0_r4D2w0/U1f9A9-735I/AAAAAAAAAro/pd1RUXD0s4M/s1600/IMG_0852.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Finally, put an end of the cord through each of the holes, meeting in the middle of the hat, and tie a knot. Trim the excess from ends and you're done!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-t-IK6qISjPU/U1f9Au10zFI/AAAAAAAAArs/9TP5nfmi36M/s1600/IMG_0853.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-t-IK6qISjPU/U1f9Au10zFI/AAAAAAAAArs/9TP5nfmi36M/s1600/IMG_0853.JPG" height="320" width="228" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Quick, easy and cute! Just the way I like it!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZIeP5yWDh4E/U1f9BjOMV2I/AAAAAAAAArw/73L4Uf2uC4E/s1600/IMG_0854.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZIeP5yWDh4E/U1f9BjOMV2I/AAAAAAAAArw/73L4Uf2uC4E/s1600/IMG_0854.JPG" height="320" width="228" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There are so many different ways to decorate your crowns:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Duct tape, washi tape, paint, stickers, jewels, stencils, markers, pom-poms, crayons.........</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You can make them for a party, like myself, or have the kids create their own. Even using this as a rainy day craft or Earth Day project is great as well! (Too bad I didn't post this yesterday!!)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

I feel like I slack in the holiday entertainment department once Christmas is over, but I am definitely trying! And, in case you are feeling just like me, slightly overwhelmed with how fast things keep sneaking up on you, here is a round up of Easter themed projects we are going to be doing around here.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

That's right, she has two because she is *that* crafty!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I absolutely love the modern, chevron twist to the traditional Easter egg! And the bunny hat with a link to a matching diaper cover? Yes, please!!</div>
